Sample of IELTS ReadingThis page provides a sample of IELTS Academic Reading Test. Although this sample is for the Academic Module, you can also use it for the General Training Module. Also visit our other links on the left-hand side of the screen for IELTS writing, speaking and listening.The actual IELTS reading test contains three reading passages. Each of the reading passages is approximately 700 to 800 words in length. There are questions and tasks following each passage. There are 40 questions in total on the reading test. The reading passages will be from different kinds of publications, such as newpapers, magazines and academic textbooks. At least one of the texts will argue a case about a controversial subject. You will be given 60 minutes to complete the actual IELTS reading test. During the actual test, you will be given an answer sheet. You need to write your answers for the reading test on the answer sheet within the 60 minute time limit. You will not be given extra time to do this.
