7. St Andrews University

8. University West England

9. Birmingham University England

10. University of England

But . . . How are you going to know which UK university is right for you when you finish your study in England after IELTS?

Well, here are some things to consider:

First of all, you will need to investigate whether the university offers the subject that you want to study. If it doesn't, you will probably want to consider a different one of the British universities.

Then, you will need to think about geographical location. Do you want to be close to London England? Perhaps you would prefer somewhere like Manchester England? Or is the quality of the university more important to you than location?

If you answered "yes" to the above question about quality, then you will probably want to have a look at the Times Good University Guide. This publication lists the top universities in England and gives detailed facts and statistics about each one.

Of course, tuition fees are not to be overlooked. Many universities in Britain offer scholarships, sometimes called studentships, to students of outstanding academic merit.

If you are a postgraduate research student, you may want to check out the university's research ranking. This is also known as the Research Assessment Exercise or RAE. Each university in England receives an RAE ranking every few years, and this is part of what determines the availability of resources for postgraduate students.

If you are in doubt, the best advice is to order a brochure, called a prospectus, from the university that is of interest to you. Most universities will happily mail the prospectus free internationally in the post.
